TNT required a storage solution for their operations department in their warehouse, located in Welshpool - Western Australia. The selection of the storage systems provider resulted in Abbott Storage Systems gaining the contract.
TNT is a renowned global shipping provider. The tagline of 'The People Network' underlines all that TNT does. They offers door-to-door shipping services to many countries across the globe. Consequently, TNT employs over 56,000 staff members based in 61 countries. More importantly they make at least 1,000,000 deliveries around the world every day.
The storage system installed at TNT consisted of:
Selective Pallet Racking with Mesh Decking and Backing,
a
Structural Raised Storage Area including
Open Span Shelving with Wire Shelves,
Rolled Upright Shelving and,
Pallet Gates.
The design of the storage system was to sustain TNT's operations department well into the future. The racking system supplied and installed in 2010 serves the operations department.
The racking and shelving systems supplied to TNT would provide storage for all the shipments that are received and sent from the warehouse. So, the racking was to store the heavier bulky items and the shelving to accommodate the smaller shipments. The Structural Raised Storage Area provides for the maximising of the use of warehouse space available.
In conclusion, Abbott Storage Systems now annually inspects the racking system as recommended by the Australian Standards AS4084-2012. This is so as to ensure that the racking structure is safe for all employees working in the area.
